face mask

We all want to have glowing, healthy skin. Sometimes it feels like a lot of work or you need many different products. That doesn’t have to be the case. You can keep it simple by using products straight from the kitchen and still get amazing results. Creating a homemade face mask is actually quite easy.

Avocado & Banana Mask- Dry Skin

Both banana and avocado are packed with hydration thus are great for dry skin. They are gentle as well in case you’re worried about your sensitive skin. Mash one ripe banana with half an avocado. Apply to the skin and let it sit for 15-20 minutes.Rinse off gently.

Note: try to keep as still as possible once the mask is applied, as it doesn’t set firmly.

Honey & Yeast- Acne

Yeast is packed with B vitamins that calm the skin, while honey is a natural antibacterial agent.

Infuse 2 chamomile tea bags in a cup of hot water, set aside to cool. Mix 1 tsp yeast with 1 tbsp honey in a bowl. Add the tea until you achieve a thick but spreadable consistency. Apply the mask, leave on for 20 minutes then rinse off gently.

Pumpkin Mask- Brighter Skin

Pumpkin is rich in vitamins A and D as well as betacarotene antioxidants which keep the skin youthful.

Mix 50ml of Pumpkin puree, 1 tbsp yoghurt, a little honey, a dash of olive oil and ground almonds. Cleanse your face then pat it until it’s damp. Apply the mixture, leave it on for 10-15 minutes then rinse with warm water.

Yoghurt, Cocoa & Honey- Exfoliating

Lactic acid in the yoghurt is a natural exfoliator, honey hydrates and tones the skin and cocoa reduces irritation.

Mix 1 tbsp honey, 1 tbsp cocoa powder and some honey in a bowl. Stir until well mixed. Leave it on for 5-15 minutes especially if your face has been through recent breakouts. Use almond oil in place of yoghurt for a natural glow.

Lemon & Sugar- Scrub

If your skin looks dull, give it a boost with this mask. Sugar lifts off dead skin cells, while the acid in lemons naturally exfoliates. Incorporate some olive oil to soothe the skin.

Mix 1 tbsp honey, 1/2 cup sugar, 1 tbsp olive oil and 1/2 lemon. Rub gently onto the face using upward circular motions. Let it set for 10 minutes before rinsing off.

Remember to moisturise with an oil of your choice after rinsing off any of these masks.
