You bought that makeup product ages ago but didn’t like it. Or you did but it’s been around for long and you feel guilty about throwing it away. Don’t worry, you don’t have to! There are countless ways to repurpose old products- and they’re very easy too.
Hard Eyeliner
If that eyeliner is too hard for you, it can be turned into a liquid liner in seconds. Hold the tip over a flame for a moment then let it cool for 15 seconds. The result is a smooth liner that applies effortlessly.
Old Liquid Liner Brush
If your favourite liquid eyeliner comes with its own brush, you can save old ones and reuse them. Clean off any residual product and use the brush for nail art.
Mascara Wand
Save those coins by using a mascara wand as an eyebrow brush. Make sure to clean the wand first.
Shimmer Eyeshadow
That eyeshadow that you bought and the glitter turned out to be too much for you can still be salvaged. Mix it into a bottle of clear nail polish to make your own custom colour. How cool! For a matte effect, simply add matte polish as the final coat.
Old Powders
Those powders that are way past their lifetime can still find new life. Mix them with glue to create sparkly paint. Eyeshadow can also be used this way.
To make a tinted moisturiser, mix old compact powder with your favourite facial moisturiser. It’s a great substitute for foundation. If you’re not into heavy makeup or are in a hurry, tinted moisturiser gives you that no makeup-makeup look.
Lipsticks
Wondering what to do with lipstick once it reaches the bottom? Scoop it out with a small knife, melt it in a big spoon then pour into a small container or tube. Set aside to cool. For a less messy process use a microwave. To make a custom colour, melt several shades of lipstick together.
To make a tinted lip balm, mix lipstick with a little petroleum jelly. Melt it in a spoon then pour into a container. Voila!
Remember that all products have an expiry date. If repurposing for the sake of applying on your body, confirm first whether the product is still safe to use.
