Makeup is great but sometimes you may want a break from a full look. Have you ever wondered how celebrities and movie stars look flawless minus lots of products? Having enough money for elaborate skincare is one factor, though they also use a trick: the ‘no makeup’ makeup look.

It may seem simple from the name- I mean, you’re not doing a full face beat. But still requires elaborate steps to achieve. Here’s a quick guide on how you can do it.

Cleanse

Wash your face with a mild cleanser and your hands or a soft washcloth. Use gentle circular motions, moving your hands upwards. This avoids irritating the skin.

Moisturise

Apply your moisturiser of choice to ensure the skin stays hydrated and helps your makeup set well. Go for one with a lightweight formula and use a small amount.

Foundation

Depending on the condition of your skin, you can use either a tinted moisturiser or a foundation. The latter is for situations where your skin has a lot of blemishes. Apply a little product at a time as you blend thoroughly. This reduces the likelihood of looking cakey.

Conceal

Apply concealer to your problem areas- go easy on the product though. For dark eye circles, use an under eye concealer.

Powder

This comes in handy if you have oily skin. Use a light powder that matches as closely to your skin tone as possible.

Blush

If you fancy a bit of colour, pick out a soft blush that comes close to the colour of your cheeks when you blush. Apply to the apples of your cheeks. Be subtle with the amount of product, since emphasis is on a natural look.

Lips

Pick a lip gloss or stain that matches the colour of your lips. Pair with a lip liner that’s one shade lighter or darker than your lips and you’re good to go.

Eyes

You don’t need to do much here since you’re aiming for a light look. Skip the eyeshadow and apply a little mascara to the lashes instead. Keep work on the brows light- harsh lines and heavy product will ruin this look.
