Lupita Nyongo’s star continues to shine brighter- and this time literally. The beloved Hollywood actress is set to receive her very own Walk Of Fame star. The news was released via livestream on the Walk Of Fame’s website.
Hollywood Chamber of Commerce announced the Walk of Fame class of 2019, whose other awardees include Cedric the Entertainer, Michael Buble, Tommy Mottola, Tyler Perry, Lucy Liu and Cypress Hill.
Others include Guillermo del Toro, Anne Hathaway, Faith Hill, Kristen Bell, Daniel Craig,Tommy Mottola, P!nk and Dolly Parton.
Vin Di Bona, chair of this year’s Walk of Fame selection committee had this to say: “I feel the committee has outdone themselves and I know the fans, tourists and the Hollywood community will be pleased with our selection. We are excited to see each and every honoree’s face as they unveil that majestic star on Hollywood’s most famous walkway.”
Though some people argue that Lupita doesn’t deserve a star since other actors and actresses who’ve been on the scene longer than her are yet to receive one, we say give credit where it’s due.
The Walk is one of Hollywood’s biggest tourist attractions, receiving an average of 10 million visitors every year. The over 2,600 terrazzo and brass stars each have the name of a celebrated Hollywood personality. To receive a star is one of the industry’s highest honours, since one’s name is preserved for posterity. The first star was laid on March 28, 1960.
