knee-length

The cold season is here with us (in Kenya at least). We’re doing all we can to stay sane in this chilly weather that seems resistant to all efforts to keep warm. If you’ve tried everything to keep your toes toasty but they still feel like icicles, try knee-length boots.

These boots are perfect for cold weather since they keep out rain from your feet. They also keep you warmer as compared to booties. In addition, you get some added height (visually) since they make you look taller. Who wouldn’t like these boots given those advantages?

Denim pants are the most popular accompaniment for knee-length boots. This combination takes your look from basic to 100 real quick. If you’re not a fan of denim, you could opt for leggings especially on days that aren’t too cold. Pair this with an oversized sweater or long tunic. Finish the look with your favourite accessories and you’re good to go.

Dresses and boots? Absolutely! Just make sure the designs of the two agree. For example, knee-length stiletto boots paired with a LBD for a night out with the girls. Skirts aren’t to be left behind either. Pencil skirt + knee-length boots + fitting top/ blouse + light sweater= slim figure. This look is appropriate for the office as well. Short and mid- calf skirts also work well with such boots.

Knee-length boots can look good on anyone. Just choose designs that work with your figure, not against it. For instance, if your calves are thin go for boots that have buckles or straps that draw attention away from the calf. If you’re on the other end of the spectrum, choose boots with a wide shaft, so they don’t pinch and help your legs look longer. Boots with high heels/ wedges are great for adding height for short ladies.

For office wear, stick to neutral colours and simple designs. Depending on your workplace, certain heel heights might not be acceptable.

Remember to have fun while wearing these boots! Add a splash of excitement to your outfit by incorporating skirts, dresses and tights with prints.
