One way to ensure your makeup is popping is to master working on the eyes. You can even get away with a simple look on the rest of the face if your eyes are well done. Eyeliner is one of the simplest options in eye makeup. If you have no clue where to begin, consider these tips before you go shopping.
Types
There are 3 kinds of eyeliner: liquid, pencil and felt-tip. Prices vary depending on the brand and where you purchase. The liners give different effects. Liquid ones give thin, sharp lines, felt-tips are for thick & soft lines while pencils can either give soft or sharp lines depending on how you handle them and also the type of pencil.
For beginners, pencil liners are best since they’re easy to apply. Liquid liners require experience and very steady hands otherwise application can get quite messy.
Testers
If you’ve never used eyeliner before, ask the shop attendants whether they have testers. Try on different kinds and shades to find which works best for you. Only buy a liner that you’re comfortable with. Also when shopping, inquire about the return policy. Some shops allow you to return a product if you’re not happy with it.
Colours
Just like with everything else in makeup, eyeliners are available in an abundance of colours. For toned- down looks choose a shade that matches your eye colour. Bold looks suitable for the night require strong colours- you can go wild with blue, green, pink…whatever suits your fancy.
Formulas
If you live/ work in a humid environment you need liners with waterproof formulas. These prevent smudging so that you don’t end up looking like a clown. They are great for those whose eyes tend to water a lot.
