One of the surest ways to make a statement with your hair is by use of colour. The bolder the hue(s), the more dramatic your look will be. You don’t have to chemically treat your hair to achieve this though. Temporary dye comes to the rescue. It’s great for those who are just starting to experiment with hair colour.
There are various options to choose from depending on one’s taste and budget.
Hair Chalk
Yes, this is chalk designated specifically for hair. To use, wet your hair first, divide into sections then pass the chalk over the strands. Allow the hair to dry. Simple! No long hours sitting in the salon needed. Most colours last for 2-5 washes. The lighter the colour of your hair, the longer the dye will remain.
Coloured Hair Spray
If you desire some graffiti- type action on your hair, then colored hairspray is for you. Divide the hair into sections. Shake the spray can and hold it 10-12 inches away from your hair. Spray each section until you achieve the desired look. Remember to use in a well- ventilated area and cover your clothes with a towel when doing this. The colour should withstand 2-4 washes.
Hair Mascara
This comes as a small tube with a hair wand. To use, just coat your strands to the desired opaqueness and voila! Coloured hair in minutes.
Semi-permanent Dye
If you’re looking for a form of temporary dye that lasts longer than these three, go for semi-permanent dye. It can withstand 4-12 shampoos.
Demi-permanent Dye
This is for the bold ones. It lasts longer than the semi-permanent dyes. The secret behind this is ammonia which allows the colour to penetrate hair cuticles. You’ll enjoy having coloured strands 12-28 shampoos later.
