Cinnamon Rolls

Looking to bake a simple pastry dish at home? Try out these delicious cinnamon rolls that take under an hour to prepare.

Ingredients

  • 2¾ cups all-purpose flour
  • 3 tbsp sugar
  • 2 tbsp unsalted butter
  • 1 package instant yeast (1 packet = 2 and ¼ teaspoons)
  • 1 egg
  • ½ cup water
  • 1 tsp salt
  • ¼ cup milk

    Filling:
  • ¼ cup brown sugar
  • ¼ cup unsalted butter
  • 2 tbsp cinnamon powder

    Glaze:
  • 1 cup powdered sugar
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 2-3 tbsp milk or coffee

Method

For the dough:

    1. In a large bowl, mix the flour, the sugar, salt, and yeast together until well combined. Set aside.
    2. In a small microwavable bowl, heat the water, milk, and butter together in the microwave until the butter is melted (about 30-45 seconds). Stir the butter mixture into the dry ingredients.
    3. Add the egg and knead with hand or an electric mixer until the dough is no longer sticky. Place in a lightly greased bowl and let rest for about 5 minutes.
    4. Preheat the oven to 95 Celsius for around 10 minutes or just before placing rolls in oven.
    5. For the filling: After the dough has rested for 5 minutes, roll it out in a 15×9 inch rectangle then spread the butter on top. Mix together the cinnamon and sugar and sprinkle it all over the dough.
    6. Roll up the dough tightly and cut into 9 even pieces. Place in a lightly greased pan and  cover with aluminum foil.

7. For the glaze: Mix the powdered sugar, vanilla and milk together until smooth and free of lumps.Turn the oven off and place the cinnamon buns inside & allow them to rise for 20 minutes. Keep the buns in the (oven but remove the foil) and turn on the oven to 190 Celsius. Bake the cinnamon rolls for 15-20 minutes or until golden. Remove from oven and drizzle the glaze over the rolls.
8. Allow to cool then serve with a beverage of your choice. Enjoy!
