A mocktail is a non-alcoholic iced drink made using a mixture of juices, soft drinks and herbs. It’s perfect for teetotalers and when you’re hosting a children’s party. Here are 4 simple recipes you can prepare at home.
- Virgin Piña Colada
Ingredients
1 cup ice
1/4 cup coconut cream
3/4 cup pineapple juice
1/4 cup coconut milk
1 tablespoon white sugar or honey
Pineapple slices
Method
Put all the ingredients into an electric blender, blend until smooth.
Garnish with fresh pineapple slices.
2. Non-alcoholic Sangria
This mocktail requires a bit more time to prepare but is nonetheless tasty.
Ingredients
2 cups boiling water
1/2 cup sugar
2 black tea bags
2 cups cranberry juice
2 cinnamon sticks
2 cup orange juice
1 of each: medium orange, medium lemon and medium lime, sliced into rounds
1 medium apple, cored and cut into 1/2-inch chunks
Method
- Pour the boiling water over tea bags and cinnamon sticks in a large container and let it sit for 5 minutes.
- Discard tea bags and stir in sugar until it dissolves.
- Add the cranberry juice, orange juice, orange, lemon, lime, and apple. Refrigerate for at least 1 hour. For even better results do it overnight.
- Just before serving, stir in carbonated water. Serve in glasses over ice.
3. Watermelon Slush
Ingredients
2 cups cubed seeded watermelon
6 ice cubes
1 tsp honey
Method
- Place the ice cubes into a blender. Cover and pulse until completely crushed.
- Add the watermelon and blend for 1 minute or until slushy.
- Add the honey and blend for 10 seconds.
4. Booze-free Mojito
Ingredients
- Combine 2 cups water and the sugar in a microwave-safe bowl then heat in microwave on high for 5 minutes.
- Stir the mint into the water; let stand for 5 minutes. Strain and discard the mint leaves from the syrup. Set aside.
- Stir the lime sherbet, lime juice, and 1 cup water together in a large pitcher until well combined. Pour the mint-infused syrup into the mixture. Add club soda and stir.
Serve over ice and garnish with lime slices.
