Valentine's Valentines day

Valentine’s Day is almost here with us and while it’s highly celebrated among couples, it can be a nightmare for singles. There’s no escape from the constant reminder of love all over the place. However instead of pity parties, you can still enjoy the day while on your own.

Meal Date

Yes, go out on a date with yourself! Who said Valentine’s dates are reserved for romantic couples? Go for a meal at your favourite restaurant and order something fancy. Preferably at off-peak times when the place isn’t bursting with couples.

Relaxing Spa Treat

Book a spa session and let yourself get pampered. If you can get a day off work, the better. Dedicate the day to relaxing. Try not to think about other things during the session- immerse yourself in it to fully enjoy the experience.

Hang Out With A Friend

If you have a girlfriend who’s also single, why don’t you plan a date together? It can be anything from a sleepover, coffee date, shopping, or any activity that you both enjoy.

Adventure

If you’re up for some adrenaline-inducing activities or are looking for a new experiences, spend a day out at a park. Or go for a day trip and do some hiking. These are great as they lift your moods, act as a workout and you get to make memories- all in one activity.

Help Others

Instead of moping about your singlehood, how about taking the focus off yourself? Whether donating to a charitable cause, helping a friend or stranger in need or organizing a neighbourhood cleanup exercise, doing something for others is a great way to fill your mind with positive thoughts and boost your mood.

Reflection

You may not be in a relationship, but your life is still full of blessings. Use this day to think on the good things you have going on. List them in a journal- both the big and little things. You’ll be surprised at just how much you have to be grateful for.
