Skincare

Skincare, just like hair care, is a world swamped with advice, products and procedures. If you’re on a budget or dislike too many components, you can still show your skin some love. All you need is the right cleanser, moisturizer, and skin treatments/ masks for your skin type.

Cleansers

For oily skin, cleansers should be gentle and sulphate-free. Harsh cleansers strip the skin of natural oils, triggering the release of excess sebum. Combination skin needs products with a great balance of being oil- free yet moisturizing.

If you have dry skin, avoid products that make the skin feel squeaky clean. Instead go for soap- free, sulphate-free cleansers. They should leave your skin with as much of its natural oils as possible. Cleansing oils which dissolve dirt and makeup are another good choice.

Moisturizers

This is a critical part of skincare. Oily skin needs moisture to prevent excess sebum production. Choose lightweight, oil- free products for this. For combination skin you’ll need a moisturizer with sunscreen so as to balance out dry spots and avoid an oily T-zone. BB creams and tinted moisturizers are also great alternatives.

Coconut oil works wonders for dry skin. Apply it directly onto the skin a few minutes after showering to lock in moisture. If the scent of raw coconut oil throws you off, there are unscented varieties.

Skin Treatments/ Masks

These can be easily made at home with ingredients from your kitchen, further saving your money. Research to find which ingredients go best with your skin type. For example honey is great for dry skin since it’s a humectant (draws moisture from the air).
