Last week Tuesday, the Obamas new production company Higher Ground Productions announced seven projects lined up for Netflix. These include several documentaries and a movie about Frederick Douglass.
Mr. Obama had this to say about the shows: “Touching on issues of race and class, democracy and civil rights and much more, we believe each of these productions won’t just entertain, but will educate, connect and inspire us all.”
The Obamas had last year signed a deal with Netflix to produce shows and films that will run for many years.
Some of the shows lined up include:
Listen to Your Vegetables & Eat Your Parents- A half-hour series for preschoolers that educates on the history of food.
An adaptation of a New York Times series called Overlooked -which focuses on people whose deaths went unreported by the paper.
A film adaptation of Frederick Douglass: Prophet of Freedom- the Pulitzer Prize-winning biography by David W. Blight.
