moringa

Moringa (scientific name Moringa oleifera) is a small tree from India, Pakistan, and Nepal that has been used to treat a range of diseases in Eastern countries, ranging from digestive disorders, diabetes, heart disease, liver disease, respiratory problems, arthritis, skin issues  and anaemia. It is also known as ben tree, horseradish tree or drumstrick tree.

Moringa is regarded as a superfood due to its antioxidant, anti-inflammatory, tissue-protective properties and nutritional value. You can use the pods, flowers, seeds, fruits, roots and bark of the plant, or as a supplement in powder form.

Inflammation

This plant fights inflammation by subduing inflammatory proteins and enzymes. Chronic illnesses such as cardiovascular problems, arthritis, respiratory diseases and obesity are caused by inflammation.

Heart Health

Moringa promotes cardiovascular health by reducing cholesterol levels, preventing plaque formation in the arteries and controlling the amount of lipids in the blood.

Antimicrobial & Antibacterial

Moringa helps the body to fight off fungi and bacteria. It’s been found to be effective against bacteria that cause digestive problems and blood and urinary tract infections. It also works against fungi that cause skin infections.

Nutritional Value

From vitamins to minerals and amino acids, moringa has it all. It’s rich in protein, potassium, calcium as well as vitamins A, C, and E.

Liver Health

Your liver benefits from high levels of polyphenols in the leaves and flowers of this plant. These protect the liver from toxicity, oxidation, and damage. Moringa maintains a healthy balance of liver enzymes which are responsible for fructose metabolism, blood detoxification, processing of nutrients, bile production, and fat metabolism.

Faster Wound Healing

This superfood has blood-clotting agents in its roots, leaves and seeds. These agents reduce time taken by blood to clot thus wounds and scratches heal faster.

Brain Health

The vitamins E and C in moringa reduce oxidation that leads to degeneration of neurons, thus improving brain function. It also regulates which are responsible for organ function, memory, mood,  and mental health.
